The following are some questions and answers about the Personal Chef Service.

1. Can you deliver my meals instead of cooking them in my home?  No. Hale's Kitchen is not licensed as a catering service. The beauty of having a personal chef is that I do all the shopping for you, take the food to your home, and cook wonderful, home cooked meals for you to enjoy at your leisure.  
2. What if something happens? During your consultation we will discuss the location of water cut off, electrical panels and emergency contact numbers should anything unexpected happen. But I carry over a million dollars of liability insurance...just in case...
3. Do I have to stay there while you cook? No. In most cases my clients provide me a key or some other entry to the kitchen so I can cook while they are away at work, school, etc..
4. Can I stay and chat while you cook? Actually, for safety sake, I ask that while I'm there, the kitchen be treated as my office. While preparing sometimes five or six dishes at once and using extremely sharp knives in the process conversations may cause a dangerous distraction. I may cut myself, or worse, make a mistake in a recipe! If you like I can schedule time before and after my cooking to discuss the day.
5. What about my pets? No problem (as long as they don't attack!) But just like kids, For safety reasons I ask that access to the kitchen be minimized because I use sharp knives.
6. What about my children? No problem. But like pets, I ask that their access to the kitchen be minimized because of sharp knives, hot pans etc... I'll be happy to take time to prepare a lunch or a snack for the kids as long as it's approved by you first.
7. Will you use my pots and pans? No. I bring all the pots, pans and cooking utensils I need to prepare your meals.
8. How much will it cost and when do I pay you? I am paid in advance for my services after the consultation so I can use the money to do the shopping. The amount of payment will vary depending on the number of meals requested, type of food. Obviously lobster and prime rib cost more than lasagna and tuna casserole.
9. How do I need to prepare for the cook date? I need three things; clean and clear as much counter space as possible for me to work, clear room in the fridge or freezer to fit all your meals, and finally if using re-usable containers-have them clean and ready for your next meals.
10. What happens if I can't clear up like in question 9? I will gladly clear the freezer and fridge of old food for you at a nominal fee. I will also clean re-usable containers and clear counter space for an additional fee. I charge for these extra services because it takes extra time and distracts me from preparing your meals.
